Shruti Sharma

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Agricultural and Applied Economics at the University of Georgia and expected to graduate in Fall 2021. My research focuses on evaluating government policies and interventions that can improve lives of the rural poor and decrease gender disparities in developing countries. In my dissertation, I evaluated the impact of skill development intervention on shifting deep-rooted gender norms in rural Nepal. I have significant experience working with both government and non-government organizations at various research positions in India and Nepal. This includes developing and administering surveys, implementing and maintaining the integrity of the RCT, and conducting site visits and focal group discussions with the intended beneficiaries. I want to utilize my extensive background as an Applied Economist to generate and use rigorous evidence that contributes to a better, more equitable world.
