About
Dr. Yangxuan Liu focuses on economic issues related to cotton production and specializes in agricultural finance and agribusiness management. Her research focuses on economic and risk assessment of existing agricultural systems as well as emerging technologies and practices to improve long-term sustainability and profitability of agricultural production. Dr. Liu’s extension programs address current and emerging state and national issues related primarily to cotton marketing, production economics, farm management, and agricultural policy.
Previous experience of Dr. Liu includes performing research for the Rural Education Action Project (REAP) in China, organizing the 3rd Annual Global Forum of Leaders for Agricultural Science and Technology in China, participating as a cultivator at the 2015 Farm Foundation Round Table, serving as a Next Generation Delegate at the 2016 Chicago Council on Global Affairs Global Food Security Symposium, and contributing to a panel discussion of the Precision Agriculture & Big Data at the 2015 Borlaug Dialogue and World Food Prize.
With these experiences serving as a foundation, Dr. Liu looks forward to collaborating with researchers, specialists, extension agents, and stakeholders in building an outstanding Research and Extension educational program at the University of Georgia. Ultimately, Dr. Liu hopes to apply her interdisciplinary knowledge to Georgia and global cotton production to improve the agricultural productivity for the world’s growing population.
