AAE Colleagues, Students, Alumni, and Friends,
 

As the spring semester winds down, I hope you’ll take a few moments to explore the achievements and activities highlighted in the Spring edition of the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics newsletter. From impactful research and guest speakers to student awards and industry engagement, this semester reflects the breadth of work happening across our teaching, research, and outreach programs. 

In this issue, we feature timely research by faculty, including Dr. Susana Ferreira on job satisfaction and risk, Dr. Yukiko Hashida on the role of prescribed burns in wildfire management, and Amanda Smith on how the Farm Bill affects more than just farmers. Our ongoing Beefenomics series by Dr. Will Secor continues to track key trends in cattle markets, offering valuable insight for stakeholders across the beef industry.

From EEM Student Olivia Bendon for her work implementing an AI program called Raccoon Eyes in dining halls to Yukiko Hashida for her award, students and faculty in our Department are fantastic!
Award Highlights
Congratulations to our distinguished faculty, staff, and graduate students for their awards such as winning a $10,000 award for entrepreneurship or being selected as editors for prominent journals.
Research Highlights
Our faculty and staff have been recognized this semester for topics such as an article on how the farm bill affects everyone and research on prescribed burns. We cover all topics!
HFIM Highlight
Students in our nationally-ranked HFIM program have been busy participating in internships across the state and attending events such as "Network with the Rising Stars."
Guest Speakers
Students in our undergraduate majors saw how what they are learning connects with future career paths as faculty brought in alumni and industry speakers in various fields of interest.
Departmental Events
The Department has been abuzz planning and hosting events including the inaugural "Field to Table" event and our annual Conner Connects, we have been booked and busy throughout the semester!
