Thank you Chris Peters for 40 years of service to the Department and College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Chris has been a dedicated team member coming to the rescue whenever we had IT struggles and keeping the computer labs running smoothly. We will miss you! Congratulations on your retirement.
Sean Snarey, a current M.A.B. student in Agribusiness and graduate of the Terry College of Business with a degree in Economics received the $10,000 grand prize in this year's FABricate competition. His proposal was a system which automates a labor-intensive step in proultry processing, that of hanging poultry, which has some of the highest labor turnover rates in the industry. Dr. Berna Karali was selected as one of the new editors for the American Journal of Agricultural Economics (AJAE), the flagship journal of the Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA)! This prestigious appointment reflects her expertise and contributions to the field, and we look forward to her leadership in shaping impactful research in agricultural and applied economics.
Dr. Esendugue Greg Fonsah was selected as President of the Food Distrbution Research Society (FDRS). Under his leadership, the FDRS successfully hosted its 65th Annual Conference in Puerto Rico. Themed "Resilient AgriFood Systems," the conference gathered researchers, educators, and industry professionals to discuss advancements in food distrubution over time.

Dr. Gopi Munisamy was awarded the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Borealis Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural, and Natrual Resources Related Sciences in his greater community.

Dr. Yukiko Hashida has been honored with the prestigious Japanese Economic Association Award for Young Female Researchers! The esteemed award, sponsored by Nippon Life Insurance and the Japanese Economic Association, celebrates the achievements of female economists who are emerging as role models for the next generation. Dr. Chen Zhen served as the Keynote Speaker for the 5th Annual UGA Obesity Research Initiative Symposium! In his presentation, he discussed using scanner data to inform food and nutition policymaking. As a UGA Athletics Association Professor in Food Choice, Obesity & Health, Dr. Zhen's is a leading scholar in the field of consumer behavior with impactful research on sugar-sweetened beverage (SSB) taxes, shelf nutrition labeling, and much more.
Dr. Michael Adjemian, with is co-PI Qingxiao Li at Lousiana State University received a USDA NIFA grant of $800,000 for "PARTNERSHIP: Contributions of Supply and Demand Shocksto Food Price Inflation in th United States and Their Policy Implications."
