About
Mateusz Filipski studies issues of development in rural areas around the world. His research interests include rural transformation, migration, mechanization, technology adoption, health economics, and consumer behavior (among others). Much of his research has focused on evaluating the economic impacts of programs and policies that aim to improve the lives of rural populations. He uses both econometric and structural modeling methodologies to shed light on those issues.
Prior to joining UGA, he was a Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). His most recent research has been focused on the countries of Ethiopia, China, and Myanmar.
Mateusz spent his formative years in Europe. He is fluent in French, Polish, English, Spanish, and has a working knowledge of Mandarin.
